JOYFULLY SINGING AND READING THE BIBLE

Although each individual and group is free to do as they know is

best locally, we suggest advertising a phone number interested

persons can call to learn when you may want them to visit and join

in the weekly reading of, for example, a chapter from Matthew then

Mark, and at such times you can also sing one or more songs like

those which follow.  Remember that you can also easily chant together some

of the Psalms, in which one person voices a line followed by the others

repeating it.  Every language has beautiful songs for praising Jehovah and

His son Jesus Christ.

For example during January you might read Matthew chapters 1 to 4,

in February 5-8, in March 9-12, in April 13-16  in May 17-20, in

June 21-24, in July 25-28; in August you may read Mark chapters 1-4,

in September 5-8, in October 9-12, November 13-16, December 17-20.

Some may question the use of some re-written Christmas songs and note that

Christ was actually born on or about Oct 2.  True, which means 9 months

before that date, namely on or about Dec 27, he was probably conceived, and

also the first Hannukah was on Dec 27 though the date has varied since

because lunar-based.  John 10:22-4 shows Christ as a Jew celebrated it,

being at the Temple during the "Festival of Dedication," another name for

Hannukah which includes singing, candles, use of tree parts, gift-giving.

Still, if singing such still bothers you, then simply ignore them or re-word

those even more than we did.

SONG #1 All Through The Night

Sleep my child and peace attend thee

All through the night

From heaven angels Jah will send thee

All through the night.

Soft the drowsy hours are creeping

All through the night

I my loving vigil keeping

All through the night.

Jah's arms hold with love and power

All through the night

Guards from mankind's darkened tower

All through the night.

Hill and vale in slumber sleeping

All through the night

Jah's sweet love staying with us

All through the night.

SONG #2 Amazing Grace

Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,

That saved a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found,

Was blind but now I see.

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,

And grace my fears relieved;

How precious did that grace appear

The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,

I have already come;

Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,

And grace will lead me home.

When we've been there ten thousand years,

Bright shining as the sun,

We've no less days to sing Jah's Praise,

Than when we first begun.

Amazing grace has set me free,

To touch, to taste, to feel;

The wonders of accepting love,

Made me love Jah for real.

SONG #3 Come By Here (Tune: Kum Ba Yah)

Come by here, dear Jah, come by here (Refrain)

Come by here, dear Jah, come by here

Come by here, dear Jah, come by here

Oh Jah, come by here!

Someone's sleeping, Jah... Someone's crying, Jah...

Someone's singing, Jah...  Someone's slaving, Jah...

Someone's laughing, Jah... Someone's praying, Jah...

SONG #4 Found Paradise [Tune: Found A Peanut, Clementine]

Found paradise, found paradise,

Found paradise just now. [Repeat]

[Continue in the same manner with questions:

Where d'ya find it...

- On the earth

- What was it doing there...

Song #5   Give Me That Joyful Religion

(Tune of Give Me That Old Time Religion)

Give me that joyful religion

Give me that joyful religion

Give me that joyful religion

...It was good enough for the early Christians

It's good enough for me.

...It was good enough for your dear son Jesus

...It was good enough for Paul and for Peter

...It was good enough for the Hebrew children

SONG #6 Go Tell It On Jah's Mountain

Refrain:

Go tell it on Jah's mountain, over the hills and everywhere!

Go tell it on Jah's mountain, that Jesus Christ is born!

While shepherds kept their watching o'er silent flocks by night,

Behold, throughout the heavens there shone a holy light. Refrain

The shepherds feared and trembled when lo, above the earth

Rang out the angel chorus that hailed our Saviour's birth! Refrain

Down in a lonely manger the humble Christ was born,

And God sent His dear son who blesses this Christian morn. Refrain

SONG #7 Get On Board Little Children

Get on board little children (This is the refrain)

Get on board little children

Get on board little children

There's room for many a-more!

The Good News train is coming

I see it close at hand

I hear Jah's car wheel a-rumbling

And rolling through the land.

(Refrain)

Jehovah's made all the stars

We see them hours and hours

Enjoy their twinkle from afar

See why we shout His powers

(Refrain)

SONG #8 Give Me That Joyful Religion

(Tune of Give Me That Old Time Religion)

Give me your work Jehovah God

Give me your work Jehovah God

Give me your work Jehovah God

...It was good enough for the early Christians

It's good enough for me.

...It was good enough for your dear son Jesus

...It was good enough for Paul and for Peter

...It was good enough for the Hebrew children

SONG #9  Glory Glory Hallelujah

This song was first known as Will You Meet With Us Brothers.

During the Civil War the words were changed to reflect the battle

for freedom.   Here we again give it a spiritual wording but in

relation to fighting for spiritual victory over all bad religion

(Babylon the Great Rev 18:4):

My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of Jah God,

He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are

stored;

He hath burnt the hateful slave chains of old Babylon the Great,

His truth is marching on.

               (The Refrain)

Glory, glory hallelujah! [Repeat twice more.]

Jah's truth goes marching on.

Jah has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never sound retreat

Jehovah is sifting the hearts of men before his judgment seat;

Oh, be swift, my soul, to serve His son, slavery help defeat!

(Refrain)

My eyes have seen the glory of God's Son who comes none too late!

Jah is judging all the blood-soaked who spy from their towers of

hate,

He has loosed the heavy slave chains of old Babylon the Great,

His truth goes marching on. (Refrain)

We've seen Christ in the bright light of our friends' kindly

reactions,

They praise Jah's most holy name by their loving helpful actions,

They use His light to expose bloody watchtower vexations (Refrain)

We invite friends to meet in homes and email and sing this sng,

Love cleans the mud Tower apostate misleaders smeared so wrong,

Use our freedoms to right those wrongs, show to Jah we belong.

(Refrain)

SONG #10 Go Down Moses

When Israel was in Egypt land,

Let my people go

Oppressed so hard they could not stand

Let my people go.

Go down Moses (This is the refrain)

Way down in Egypt land

Tell old Pharaoh

Let my people go.

And Jah told Moses what to do

Let my people go

And lead my people right on through

Let my people go. (Refrain)

And they reached the other shore

Let my people go

And sang with Miriam forever more

Let my people go. (Refrain)

And Jah tells Babylon get out

Let my people go

Her towers fall and we'll all shout

Let my people go. (Refrain)

SONG #11 The Happy Wanderer

I love to go a-wandering

Along the mountain track,

And as a go I love to sing,

My knapsack on my back.

Refrain:

Valderi, Valdera, Valderi,

Valdera-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha,

Valderi, Valdera,

My knapsack on my back.

I love to wander by the stream

That dances in the sun.

So joyously it calls to me:

Come join my happy song.

I wave my hat to all I meet

And they wave back to me,

And blackbirds call so loud and sweet,

From every greenwood tree.

High overhead the skylarks wing,

They never rest at home,

But just like me they love to sing,

As o'er the world we roam.

Oh, may I go a-wandering

Until the day I die.

And may I always laugh and sing,

Beneath Jah's clear blue sky.

SONG #12 He's Got The Whole World

He's got the whole world in his hands; [Repeat 4 times]

He's got the wind and the rain in his hands; [Repeat 3 times]

Jah's got the whole world in his hands.

He's got the sun and the moon . . .

He's got the little bitty baby . . .

He's got you and me brother . . .

He's got everybody here . . .

SONG #13 Holy, Holy, Holy, Jah God Almighty!

Holy, holy, holy!  All the saints sing so brightly

Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea

Cherubim and seraphim falling down we do see

Jah who was and is and always will be.

Holy, holy, holy!  Jah God Almighty!

All your works do praise your name in earth, the sky and sea

Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty

Jah call all persons, invites you and me.

Holy, holy, holy!  Jehovah Almighty!

Kind deed and your son's sacrifice do you magnify

Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!

Jah calls all persons, invites you and me.

SONG #13 If You're Happy And You Know It

If you love Jah and you know it

Clap your hands (Clap twice)

If you love Jah and you know it

And you really want to show it

If you love Jah and you know it

Clap your hands

If you're happy and you know it

...nod your head...

...stamp your feet...

...shout hello...

SONG #14 In The Sweet By And By

There's a land that is fairer than day,

And by faith we can see it afar;

For the Father waits over the way

To prepare us a dwelling place there.

In the sweet by and by,        (The Refrain)

We shall meet on that beautiful shore;

In the sweet by and by,

We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

We shall sing on that beautiful shore

The melodious songs of the blessed;

And our spirits shall sorrow no more,

Not a sigh for the blessing of rest. (Refrain)

To our bountiful Father above,

We will offer our tribute of praise

For the glorious gift of His love

And the blessings that hallow our days. (Refrain)

There's a land that is fairer than day,

And by faith we can see it afar;

For the Father waits over the way

To prepare us a dwelling place there. (Refrain)

SONG #14 It Came Upon The Midnight Clear

It came upon the midnight clear that glorious song of old

Jah's angels bending near the earth to touch our hearts with gold

"Peace on the earrth, good will to men from heaven's all gracious

King."

The earth in solemn stillness lay to hear the angels sing.

Still through the dark war skies they come with peaceful wings

nfurled

And still their nightly music floats over the weary world

Above its sad and weary lands they bend on hovering wing

And over its Babylon noise the blessed angels sing.

Yet with the woes of sin and strife

The world has suffered long

Tribulation so wrong

Below Jehovah's throne has rolled.

And men at war with men hear not

The Good News which they bring

O hush that noise you men at war

And hear Jah's angels sing!

SONG #18 Rock of Ages, Jah's For Me

Rock of Ages, Jah's for me,

Let me hide myself on knee;

Let the water and the blood,

From Jah's wounded son which flowed,

Be of sin the double cure,

Save from wrath and make me pure.

Could my tears forever flow,

Could my zeal no languor know,

These for sin could not atone;

You must save, and You alone;

In my hand no price I bring,

Simply to your love I cling.

No hard labor of my hands

Could fulfill the law's demands;

Come naked for food and life

Found freedom from all the strife

Foul I to your mountain fly,

Wash me, Savior, or I die!

Song #19 Shall We Gather At The River

Shall we gather at the river,

Where the angels sing to all,

With its crystal tide forever

Flowing by the throne of Jah?

Yes, we'll gather at the river, (This is the refrain)

he beautiful, the beautiful river;

Glories stream from heaven afar

Heavenly hosts sing hallelujah

Christ the savior is born

Silent night, holy night

Jah's son taught it right

Feed and heal the needy here now

Yes even death before Christ must bow

Jah's son will bring more joy

Silent night, holy night

Son of God, love's pure light

Radiant beams from your holy face

With the dawn of redeeming grace

Jesus lord at your birth

Jesus lord at your birth.

Sing high, sing low sweet chariot,

Coming for to carry me home

Sing high, sing low sweet chariot

Coming for to carry me home

I looked across the Jordan and what did I see,

Coming for to carry me home

...Parents, sister and baby brother

Coming for to carry me home

MORE FELLOWSHIPPING IDEAS:

A simple ad for finding new persons to fellowship with: "Now forming

independent Bible reading groups.  Phone 444 444-4444 today."

All easily agree to the name Christians, though some also use descriptive

names like the Brown Street Bible Study Group, Kingdom Christians, Thompson

Home Church, Paducah Area Free Christians or, one that was current at

writing, the Active Christians of Jah. The Bible gives no rules about names,

places for gathering or frequency etc, though once a week in a private home

was usual in the first century and still a good option.  Now as then the

only one valid spiritual Leader over every single Christian individual and

group is Jehovah God's son, our savior Jesus Christ as noted at Matthew

23:10 and only the Christ is between us and God as stated at 1 Timothy 2:5.

Groups will naturally have their own local, regional or even national

servants.

Focus on helping each other, other needy persons and your communities rather

than on doctrinal discussions and debates. (Ga 2:10) When someone insists on

forcing a certain doctrinal orientation, they are  form their own group,

peaceably parting as did Abraham and Lot.  Acts of loving kindness sanctify

God's name or person far more than words.

Happy attenders tell others and this brings natural growth though tracts or

leaflets etc can also be helpful. (Mt 28:19)  Unity is via LOVE (Col 3:14)

and the simple Christian basics (Heb 6:1-2), though many groups may hold the

view God resurrects some to heaven and others will live again on earth. (Mt

5:5)

Some enjoyable activities for after reading the Bible, praying and singing,

would be  a group meal, ice-cream social, picnic or barbecue, going to help

older relatives as part of a "work party" combining work with fun etc.

Enjoy a video together for example during the winter, go hiking or camping

together in the summer.  Volunteers could gather clothing, cans of food etc

to help the needy.

Keep gatherings fun, remembering that the fruitage of God's spirit includes

"joy." (Ga 5:22)  Also, as Galatians 5:1 says, let's be glad that it is for

balanced Christian freedom that Christ freed us, and so let us stand fast

and not fall back into the previous yoke of slavery.

Many blessings ahead.
